When was the last time you posted on Facebook, tweeted on Twitter or even updated your company profile on LinkedIn? If your answer includes the words “more than a week ago”, you’re missing out on opportunities to build your business.

It happens far too frequently. Business realize they need to be on the social media bandwagon so they open a Facebook or Twitter account, post for a week or so, then get overwhelmed with “real” work and let their social media accounts go silent. Or, they create an account, have trouble navigating through Facebook and give up in frustration.

In today’s world, social media should be a part of almost every business. It allows you to uniquely connect with your customers and build an engaged fan base. But even businesses plugged into social media sometimes miss the boat.

    They:
-make the conversation all about them; instead of about the customer
-post infrequently and drop out of customers’ view
    -don’t post engaging content
-don’t understand how each social media network is unique; one size does not fit all
    -don’t have a plan
    - and so on

Don’t miss the countless opportunities social media offers to build your brand. Hire a social media specialist who has the knowledge, skills and desire to post, tweet and blog your company to success (hint: me!)!  Then you’ll be free to focus on your own area of expertise.
